Wrapped in Time
In this series, I explore the evolving relationship between tradition and modernity through the language of portraiture and fashion. Inspired by the paintings of the Old Masters—of Flemish and Baroque portraiture—I reinterpret classical aesthetics with an contemporary approach.
Fabric, color, and form become tools through which I create images that exist on the threshold between past and present. Clothing is not merely worn; it is sculpted, deconstructed, and reimagined. Skirt is worn as a dress. Shirt as a hat . Tights as a headpiece …These transformations challenge the notion of cultural identity as something fixed, instead revealing tradition as fluid—constantly shifting .
For inspiration and visual associations, I turned to flowers, using their shapes, colors, and symbolic meanings as a foundation for each composition. Through the interplay of garments, hues, and poses, I sought to capture the essence and mood of each flower.
The faces of my subjects remain hidden, encouraging the viewer to look beyond individual identity and engage with a deeper, universal dialogue between heritage and its evolution.
